Start point : Chelmsford Station

1. Proceed between Railway Tavern & Brewhouse (resisting temptation to enter either!) then between apartment blocks. Emerging onto a green open space bear slightly right to reach Parkway.
2. Go through underpass into Central Park.
3. Continue with lake on right, then take first path on right to keep lake on right-hand side.
4. Pass under viaduct, and continue with River Can on left. Go through subway under Waterhouse Lane into West Park.
5. Cross 'new' metal bridge so that River is now on right-hand side & continue through Admirals Park.
6. Keep on path until reaching a T-junction, turn right to cross river by monitoring station then immediately turn left.
7. >Follow this path past Old Chelmsfordians sports ground, go through a gate & turn left to follow Lawford Lane.
8. >Cross wooden bridge, then in approx. 100 yards turn right. Follow this path past old ECC sports ground on left, then past tractor depot & kindergarten to reach Lordship Road.
9. Cross Lordship Road, turn right then immediately left to follow path onto ARU Writtle campus.
10. Follow path through campus : as path swings left into car park, bear slightly right to emerge with fields on left and quarry pit on right.
11. Reaching Cow Watering Lane, follow the road as it swings left.
12. >At junction with Victoria Road turn left.
13. Follow Victoria Road to junction with Ongar Road.
14. Turn left onto Ongar Road, then turn right at Prestons Garage onto St Johns Road to each The Wheatsheaf on your left.
